| With IDX e-CMS, to prepare a site for publishing
the site will need to be edited by an IDX
e-CMS developer. Site designers specify guidelines
(templates) and usability (navigation) by
providing page templates. These pages (stored
on the IDX e-CMS server) are content independent
and contain references to possible articles
and components that may be developed by content
providers. |
| Content can be formatted differently around
a site based on designer specified guidelines;
therefore allowing reuse or repurposing of
content. This is useful for page personalization
or flexibly delivering the same data to an
alternate platform with different capabilities
(such as low or high bandwidth machines, disabled
persons, or non PC devices such as PDA or
web TV). |
| Content appears in places specified by creators,
authors and editors. The content can be published
in real-time to the live site (IDX e-CMS server)
or scheduled to appear or disappear at later
dates based on specific dates or trigger events
that happen elsewhere in the site. Content
articles can be added to archive pools automatically
(flushed) and retrieved later through an archive
system. |
| As sites grow in size and complexity
the system for managing data, articles and
users becomes increasingly important. IDX
e-CMS provides user profiling and user management
based on a tree structure of user privileges.
|
IDX e-CMS users fall in to three different
categories: |
| |
|
general user
- content creator – with restricted
publishing rights. |
 |
| |
|
general editor
- person capable of creating and approving
data for publishing within set areas.
|
| |
| |
|
global administrator
- site owner or administrator with
full privileges to create, edit and
manage users and data. |
