In an online catalog, openness and transparency are as important as they are in a real-world retail space, but an online catalog also depends on responsiveness for usability. The IDX e-Bookstore solution provides a dynamic and a well thought browsing experience that gets you selling merchandise online as easy as possible and fast as possible. For example, it limits the clicks it takes for a shopper to move through the catalog, as well as make it easy to backtrack along the way. It allows visitors to preview the online catalog content that is available along a path, making it easier to find a route to the right merchandise.

		Unlimited number of products.
		Unlimited number of product categories (groups) and unlimited number of product sub-categories.
		Unlimited number of hierarchies of products based on product categories - Usually a book belongs to a single product category such as History. The IDX e-Bookstore solution allows a Book to belong to more than one category. For example a book could belong to History, Religion, Reference etc. Having multiple hierarchies, with several possible paths for the user rather than a single path, is like having the same item available in several areas of a store. It just becomes easier for the customer to find the desired merchandise.
		Unlimited number of hierarchies of products based on marketing categories. Examples are: Gift Ideas, Best Sellers, Award Winners, Special Sales, New Items etc.
		Unlimited number of hierarchies of products based on languages. In addition to the base English language, products can belong to many languages. Sorting and searching is also facilitated by language.
		Multilingual and Bilingual product designations.
		Three (3) levels of visual elements/images. Small for preview, medium for product detail and large for full size. A small picture of a book will be provided while browsing/searching, a medium size picture will be provided when a book is selected and a large size picture could also be provided for clear representation of a book's cover page.
		Search Engine loading. For each product the IDX e-bookstore solution provides for embedding keywords (not visible to the shopper) within a product's data to facilitate enhanced searching. For example, a book on history even though it may have a comprehensive description, it may not contain all the appropriate keywords that a search engine may find.
		Ability to highlight specific products by presenting them in several areas of the Web site or all areas of the Web site. For example, an area on the right side of each Web page is reserved for the purpose of highlighting specific items within the Web Site.
		Products as Sets. Ability to designate that several products are part of a set.
		Ability to designate a product to appear on the Web site's Home page.
		Ability to designate a product to appear on the Product Home Page.

The IDX e-Bookstore solution provides ease of use and administration for the customer:

		It allows new users to easily create a user account, and existing users, who have logged on, to modify account information.
		It minimizes the amount of information required to set up a customer account and capture information entered at checkout (shipping/billing addresses) to simplify future purchases. When a user logs on, customer information is retrieved from the database and stored in session state to facilitate a richer user experience.
		It allows for the fully automated management of:   Forgotten passwords: The system will facilitate a secure and expedient way of requesting and obtaining a new password without human intervention.   Change in User Name (email address): The system will facilitate a secure and expedient way of changing the user name and readjust security and account information (Orders, subscriptions, downloads) without human intervention.
		Email changes in status confirmations are forwarded to the customer.
